Title: Solution Architect – C360 Data Engineering

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid) / 100% Remote – MST Time Zone

Summary

We are seeking a Solution Architect to serve as the senior onshore delivery leader on a high-impact Customer 360 engagement with one of North America's largest waste and environmental services companies. This is not a purely technical role — it demands equal parts architecture depth and stakeholder leadership. You will own the end-to-end solution design, guide engineering delivery, and be the trusted face of KPI's team with client business and technology stakeholders at every level.

Our client is building a Medallion Architecture on Snowflake — Stage for raw source history, ODS for current-state golden records — that will power cross-sell, churn prevention, and routing optimization across 13M+ customer accounts. You will be accountable for aligning stakeholders, making architecture decisions that hold up at scale, and keeping a multi-disciplinary onshore/offshore team moving with clarity and pace.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

• Serve as the primary KPI point of contact for client business owners, IT leadership, domain SMEs, and executive sponsors — building trust and managing expectations throughout the engagement
• Facilitate architecture workshops, domain discovery sessions, and design reviews; drive stakeholders to decisions rather than consensus loops
• Translate ambiguous business outcomes into structured solution requirements — bridging the gap between what stakeholders describe and what the engineering team needs to build
• Communicate architecture decisions, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences; present confidently at the executive level
• Proactively surface scope, timeline, and dependency risks to the client and KPI engagement leadership before they become issues

Solution Architecture & Design

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture across the Snowflake Medallion stack — Stage, ODS, Silver, and Gold layers — ensuring design decisions are coherent, scalable, and aligned to the client's business intent
• Define integration architecture across ERP (Oracle Fusion, SAP), legacy, and homegrown source systems — ingestion patterns, change detection, latency, and volume strategy
• Design the ODS layer — SCD Type-1 golden record patterns, entity key strategy, and master data hierarchy — scoped across 5,000+ objects and multiple business domains
• Establish Silver layer confirmation design in partnership with the BA/Domain Expert — ensuring Stage/ODS objects are built with CDM activation in mind from day one
• Own non-functional requirements: data latency, pipeline recovery, data quality SLAs, and platform observability

Engineering Delivery Oversight

• Provide technical leadership and architecture governance to the onshore/offshore engineering team — setting standards for pipeline design, code quality, and delivery practices
• Leverage Snowflake COCO (Cortex, Copilot, and AI-assisted development) to drive productivity and accelerate pipeline delivery across the team
• Review and approve critical technical decisions and designs before engineering begins; identify architectural risk early
• Partner with the Scrum Master on sprint planning — ensuring engineering tasks are well-scoped, correctly sequenced, and have clear acceptance criteria before kickoff
• Mentor data engineers and serve as the technical escalation point for blockers, design conflicts, and source system complexity

Governance & Documentation

• Own the solution architecture documentation: architecture decision records (ADRs), data flow diagrams, integration specs, and the overall technical blueprint
• Maintain domain-level object inventory and traceability from business requirement through data model to pipeline
• Establish and enforce data governance standards — naming conventions, data classification, lineage, and access control — in collaboration with the client's data governance team

Must have Skills:

• 10–15 years of experience in solution architecture, data architecture, or senior data engineering roles with demonstrated client-facing delivery
• Proven ability to lead stakeholder engagement at all levels — from domain SMEs to C-suite — in a consulting or systems integrator context
• Deep Snowflake expertise — ELT architecture, warehouse management, performance optimization, dynamic tables, streams, and tasks
• Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture (Stage / ODS / Silver / Gold) and how design decisions at each layer affect downstream use cases
• ODS/MDM fluency — SCD patterns, entity resolution, surrogate key strategy, and master data hierarchies across complex enterprise domains
• Experience with ERP and enterprise source system integration — Oracle Fusion, SAP, or comparable legacy/homegrown landscapes
• Strong SQL and Python skills; familiarity with dbt, Airflow, or equivalent orchestration platforms
• Experience leading or architecting solutions on programs with large object counts, multi-domain scope, and distributed delivery teams

Nice to have Skills:

• Snowflake COCO (Cortex, Copilot) — hands-on experience using AI-assisted development to accelerate team delivery
• Customer 360 or CDM program architecture experience — cross-sell, churn, or routing use case familiarity
• Data catalog and lineage tooling — data.world, Alation, or equivalent
• Experience managing onshore/offshore hybrid delivery teams in a T&M consulting model
• Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks and how to run effective sprint ceremonies in a data engineering context
• Industry experience in waste management, utilities, field services, or comparable asset-intensive enterprise environments
