Senior Smart Contract Engineer (Solidity)

About the role

Lua Ventures is hiring a Senior Smart Contract Engineer to build and ship production-grade Solidity across our portfolio and internal Web3 tooling. You'll design, write, test, and help audit contracts that handle real value — from DeFi mechanics to token systems — and set the engineering bar for the founders we back.

This is a high-ownership role on a lean, remote-first team. You won't just write contracts; you'll shape architecture, mentor portfolio teams, and influence how we evaluate technical risk in deals.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deploy secure, gas-optimized smart contracts in Solidity on EVM chains
• Write comprehensive test suites (Foundry/Hardhat) and participate in internal and third-party audits
• Build and maintain Web3 tooling, SDKs, and integrations used across the portfolio
• Review portfolio companies' contract code and advise founders on security and best practices
• Collaborate with the investment team on technical diligence for prospective deals

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of professional software engineering, with 2+ years writing production Solidity
• Deep understanding of the EVM, gas optimization, and common smart-contract vulnerabilities (reentrancy, oracle manipulation, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with Foundry or Hardhat and a strong testing discipline
• Shipped at least one live protocol or dApp handling real funds
• Clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs to both engineers and non-technical partners

Nice to have

• Experience with audits or formal verification
• Familiarity with L2s, cross-chain messaging, or ZK tooling
• Rust / Move exposure for non-EVM chains
• Open-source contributions or a public GitHub track record
