About the Company
SETTY is a dynamic, 200+ person MEP/FP consulting engineering firm recognized more than 15× on the Top 100 MEP Giants list. With 12 offices and a culture built on mentorship, technical rigor, and a genuine investment in sustainability, we are actively developing the next generation of building performance engineering. We are tech-forward and family-friendly and know that great buildings aren't just built, they're engineered.
If you want to help shape how buildings are designed, built, and operated, and want to be surrounded by talented, hard-working, and caring teams - this is where you belong.
About the Role
We are looking for talented Plumbing Engineers to join our global team. You will be a part of a talented design team, who work across a diverse portfolio of projects, regionally and nationally. Our projects include laboratories, hospitals, commercial buildings, stadium/venues, institutional & educational facilities and campuses, and transportation infrastructure. Our team is highly collaborative, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary. This is a hybrid position based in our Fairfax, VA office. Why hybrid? We value the energy, collaboration and learning opportunities that come from working together in person-and we also recognize the ability to get things done working remotely. We want best from both.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners.
- Lead plumbing system design from conceptual phase through construction documents, including domestic water supply, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty systems.
- Perform engineering calculations for pipe sizing, fixture unit loads, equipment selection, and system hydraulics.
- Develop plumbing specifications and design narratives aligned with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with architectural and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
- Survey and evaluate existing conditions for renovation and adaptive reuse projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable local, state, and national plumbing codes and standards.
- Perform construction administration, including conducting field inspections, preparing inspection reports, reviewing submittals, and responding to RFIs
- Incorporate sustainable design methods independent of benchmarking standards incorporated, e.g., LEED, Well Building, NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building), Living Building Challenge (ILFI), etc.
Qualifications
- Interest in engineering the built environment
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree
- Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
- 2–5 years of experience in the facilities design industry; 3+ years preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication skills for team-based, client-facing work.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment.
