Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to take technical ownership of an existing platform and support its continued development.
This is a hands-on role involving backend development, system review, technical decision-making, and the establishment of practical engineering standards as the team grows.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and understand the existing architecture, codebase, and technical environment.
Identify priority technical issues and manage technical debt.
Develop and maintain backend services using NestJS and TypeScript.
Design, develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs.
Design and maintain reliable database schemas and data structures.
Implement authentication, authorization, and user permission systems.
Develop and maintain integrations with external systems and services.
Write, test, and review clean and maintainable code.
Troubleshoot technical issues and support deployment and production operations.
Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions.
Establish clear standards for coding, testing, documentation, code review, and releases.
Provide technical guidance to future engineering team members.

Required Qualifications and Technical Skills:
At least four years of professional experience in backend or software development.
Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
Hands-on professional experience with NestJS.
Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
Practical experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Experience with database schema design, relationships, transactions, indexes, migrations, and query optimization.
Experience with TypeORM or Prisma.
Experience with JWT authentication and role- or permission-based access control.
Good understanding of SOLID principles and dependency injection.
Experience with Git, pull requests, and code reviews.
Experience with Docker.
Experience writing unit and integration tests.
Ability to understand, maintain, and improve an existing codebase.
Ability to work independently and make practical, well-documented technical decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with Redis and queue or background-job systems such as BullMQ or RabbitMQ.
Experience with WebSockets and real-time applications.
Working knowledge of ReactJS.
Experience with CI/CD, cloud deployment, monitoring, and error tracking.
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications.
Experience building reliable third-party integrations using webhooks, retry mechanisms, idempotency, and rate limiting.
Experience with workflow systems, state machines, maps, geolocation, or GPS data.
Previous experience with logistics, transportation, or operational systems is an advantage.
