About the job
What this actually is:
This is a structured developer training program, not a traditional job posting.
You start unpaid. You complete the Buildly certification track — real coursework, open-source contributions, code reviews, and assessments. That takes 1–2 months depending on your pace. Once certified, you're eligible for paid placements: lead developer roles on startup contracts, interim CTO engagements, and corporate projects that come through Buildly. Some of those include equity. There is a co-op path where you can contribute to projects sooner and find opening on proejcts sooner, but there is annual membership fee for that.
If that doesn't work for you right now, that's fair — this listing isn't for everyone. But if you're a developer who wants a structured path into technical leadership, wants to build your own products and list them on the Forge Marketplace, and wants to work alongside a community of builders doing the same thing, read on.
The training track
Complete the Buildly certification process: technical assessments, open-source contributions, and applied work using the Buildly Lifecycle methodology
Learn Radical Therapy for Software Teams — our framework for how high-performing dev teams actually operate
Contribute to live open-source projects; your work is public and counts toward your certification
Shadow a senior developer or CTO on an active engagement during the final phase
Certifications earned here are visible on your CollabHub profile and count as prerequisites for higher-tier opportunities on the platform.
What you do after certification
Paid work comes from three places:
- Client placements — startup and SMB contracts that come through Buildly. Lead Developer or shadow/interim CTO roles. Compensation is position-dependent ($15k–$35k range, equity varies by startup).
- Community collaboration — pair up with other certified Buildly developers on projects, contribute to each other's work, and build together.
- Your own products — build something, list it on the Forge Marketplace. Buildly-certified developers get priority support for submissions. Revenue from marketplace sales is yours.
What we're looking for
2+ years with Python, JavaScript (React), REST APIs, Git and an understaing of AI Coding tools
You've shipped something — show us a repo, a live project, a marketplace listing, anything
Comfortable working async and remote-first; collaboration hours are 10am–2pm Eastern
Genuinely interested in AI tooling, open source, and how software teams work — not just looking for a paycheck right now
Self-directed enough to move through a training track without someone pushing you
Why bother
The Buildly community is a small network of developers who are serious about building things. We contribute to each others code, we help each other promote there products and we find real jobs. Certification is a real signal — it means you've contributed to open source, shipped working code, and can operate in a team. The marketplace gives you a direct path to revenue from your own work. The client placements give you resume-worthy leadership experience on real startups.
It starts unpaid. The opportunity on the other side is real.
