About the job
About Us
Softdrive is a startup on a mission to make powerful compute accessible to every enterprise, without the complexity or cost that has defined the VDI industry for decades. We build and stream high-performance virtual desktops to any device, across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, so teams can stay productive from anywhere without being constrained by their hardware.
Our performance is 5x faster and our setup time is 80% shorter than the legacy industry players. We deliver the lowest total cost of ownership in the market, handle GPU- and CPU-intensive workloads at scale, and eliminate the burden of physical hardware management. We’re proud to build in partnership with Oracle, NVIDIA, and Autodesk.
Joining Softdrive means working on hard infrastructure problems that actually matter, at a company early enough that your work shapes the product, the team, and the culture. We move fast, operate with high ownership, and are building something the industry's biggest players haven't been able to crack.
About the Role
Softdrive is growing its Product and Engineering documentation as we scale our presence in the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and End-User Computing space. We're looking for a Technical Writer to own the technical content that explains how Softdrive works: translating complex VDI/EUC and infrastructure concepts into clear, accurate documentation and technical content that helps IT decision-makers and technical evaluators understand our product and make confident decisions.
You'll work closely with the CEO, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to produce documentation, technical guides, whitepapers, and other content that supports evaluation and adoption, helping organizations understand how to move off costly, complex legacy virtual desktop infrastructure and onto Softdrive. This is a hands-on, mostly solo writing role at an early-stage company: you'll shape the technical content strategy, but the job is producing accurate, well-structured technical writing yourself, day to day.
This role starts as a hands-on writing role. You'll own execution first. As you build a track record with our technical content and audience, there's potential for this to grow into owning technical content strategy end-to-end, including planning, prioritization, and eventually building out the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Write technical and narrative content, including product documentation, whitepapers, comparison guides, and case studies, that translates VDI/EUC concepts and Softdrive's differentiators for IT and enterprise buyers
- Write content that makes the total cost and complexity of legacy VDI tangible, and explains why organizations are reevaluating their virtual desktop strategy
- Write technical sales enablement materials in partnership with Sales, including competitive positioning and ROI/TCO materials
- Write customer case studies and proof points in partnership with Customer Success
- Maintain and organize a technical content library spanning documentation, whitepapers, and knowledge base articles
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to ensure technical accuracy across all content
- As the role matures, there's potential to take ownership of overall technical content strategy, including planning and prioritization, not just execution
About You
**Requirements & Qualifications
- 5–10 years as a professional writer/editor in B2B tech, ideally enterprise SaaS, cloud, or IT infrastructure. A portfolio of published long-form work is essential
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts (networking, virtualization, cloud infrastructure) into clear, compelling writing for technical and business audiences
- Strong independent research and interviewing skills; able to sit with an SME or a customer and turn that conversation into a case study or whitepaper
- Self-starter who can own a content function independently at an early-stage startup, without a large marketing team around them
- Familiarity with VDI, DaaS, EUC, or adjacent infrastructure/cloud categories
- Experience writing for IT or security decision-makers, or within a channel-partner GTM motion (preferred, not required) Interest in eventually owning content strategy, not just execution — you think about narrative and channel fit, not just individual pieces
- (preferred, not required) Experience with SEO and content-ops tooling
- (preferred, not required) Early-stage startup experience
