Matiks is building the world's most engaging real-time competitive math platform — live 1v1 duels, tournaments, and a fast-growing community of players who treat math the way others treat chess or esports. We're an early-to-growth stage startup backed by Tanglin and Info Edge, with a large and rapidly growing user base in India and active expansion into the US market. Our stack spans Go, GKE, React Native, WebSockets, and BigQuery, powering real-time multiplayer experiences at scale.

What You'll Work On

You'll be embedded directly in the product engineering team, shipping features that touch real users from day one — not sandboxed intern projects. Depending on your strengths, this could include:

• Building and scaling real-time multiplayer game systems (WebSockets, state machines, netcode)
• Designing and implementing backend services in Go running on GKE
• Working on our React Native app — from UI to performance to platform-specific quirks
• Contributing to system design conversations for new features, not just implementing specs handed to you
• Working across the stack as needed — this is a small, fast-moving team where ownership matters more than titles

Who We're Looking For

• Strong DSA fundamentals — you should be comfortable reasoning about algorithmic complexity and solving non-trivial problems, not just familiar with them
• A real track record of open-source contribution — PRs that got merged, projects you've maintained, or meaningful contributions to codebases you don't own. We care about what you've actually shipped into the world
• Product engineering instincts — you don't just write code that works, you think about the user experience, edge cases, and what "done" actually means for a feature
• Good system design thinking — even if you haven't designed large systems professionally, you should be able to reason clearly about trade-offs, scalability, and architecture
• Willingness to work from our office — we believe in-person collaboration accelerates learning and output, especially at this stage of the company
