The Quality Engineer will serve as the quality representative embedded within the Lowell Foundry, partnering closely with Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to drive product quality, process control, and continuous improvement. This role will support manufacturing quality activities—including customer and supplier issues—while helping ensure compliance to quality system requirements and technical specifications.

The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, data-driven problem solving, and quality methodologies, with a passion for improving process performance, product consistency, and customer satisfaction.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as the quality representative embedded within the Lowell Foundry, supporting manufacturing operations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Review process and product controls, identify gaps, and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve process capability, product quality, and operational performance.
  • Partner with Foundry Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to address manufacturing issues that may impact product performance, process repeatability, yield, or customer commitments.
  • Support investigations of customer quality issues with probable manufacturing or process-related root causes and facilitate effective corrective actions.
  • Work directly with suppliers to ensure compliance of incoming materials with applicable specifications, requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in process change reviews and provide quality guidance for manufacturing, process, and material-related changes.
  • Support internal audit activities, quality system initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to strengthen overall process and quality performance.
  • Utilize data analysis and statistical methods to monitor process performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain quality tools, metrics, and reporting that support informed decision-making and proactive quality management.
  • Communicate quality concerns, risks, and improvement opportunities to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Promote the use of quality engineering principles and best practices throughout the organization

Qualifications And Skills

  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering, quality engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Understanding of semiconductor devices and semiconductor processing.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience using statistical analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100D, IATF 16949, MIL-STD-883, and/or MIL-STD-750 standards.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or semiconductor process improvement initiatives.

RSU Eligible

This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM’s discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Salary Range

The Salary Range for this position is $66,000 – $104,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
