About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

The Automation and Operational Technology Group (AOT) is key in the delivery of reliable, traceable and timely Data and Automation Systems for Manufacturing Units on Fonterra Sites and implements and supports:

  • Highly Automated Operations.
  • Real time advanced analytics and predictive tools.
  • IOC technology stack.
  • Digital tools & mobilised workforce in manufacturing.
  • Industrial IoT, Cloud & Edge technologies.
  • Trust in source: Trace bath history, trance product authentication (QR codes).

As our Control Systems Deployment Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning and coordinating the deployment of Fonterra's automation systems solutions nationally. You will continuously be helping to develop the technology, methodologies and training to support our manufacturing environments across our Control Systems Manufacturing Business Unit.

Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing lifecycle of Control Systems from a corporate perspective. Assist in the development and deployment of solutions dedicated to integrating with other systems including MES and MOM to the shop floor.

In this role you will play a vital part in our base automation project which is about standardising automation for smarter, safer, simpler work, and it is an Operations for the Future strategic play. You will work with cross functional teams to ensure the successful role out of this project.

About You | Mōu

You will be an experienced Control Systems Engineer, with a high proficiency in process automation and HMI systems, with a familiarity of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Historians.

Due to the nature of this role, your proven control systems and applications experience, along with proven experience in leading and managing multiple stakeholders, will be essential. Alongside this you will have strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot quickly and work with our partners to get remediation initiatives underway promptly.

Other key attributes include:

  • Experience working in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and programming.
  • Experience with Rockwell/Schneider systems.
  • An understanding of network and infrastructure systems.
  • An engaging, friendly and approachable personality style.
  • A background in Engineering.
  • Project & Stakeholder management.
