Senior Frontend Engineer (React)

Role Description: This is a full-time role for a Senior Frontend Engineer (React). You will design and build scalable React applications, own the frontend architecture, define engineering standards, and mentor other developers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building high-quality products, solving complex UI problems, and working closely with founders, operations teams, and backend engineers in a fast-moving startup. Experience: 4+ years.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable React applications using TypeScript.
• Define and maintain frontend architecture, coding standards, and best practices.
• Build reusable components and contribute to a shared design system.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code.
• Review code and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with founders, operations teams, backend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver business-critical features.
• Improve application performance, accessibility, and developer experience.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for frontend deployments.
• Own the frontend development lifecycle from planning to production.
• Continuously reduce technical debt and drive architectural improvements.
• Lead technical discussions and take ownership of technical decisions.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional frontend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React (4+ years) and TypeScript.
• Modern JavaScript (ES2022+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
• Styling with CSS Modules, Styled Components, or Tailwind CSS.
• React Router, React Hook Form, and schema validation with Zod or Yup.
• State management with one or more of Redux Toolkit, RTK Query, TanStack Query.
• Automated testing with Jest or Vitest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
• Understanding of the testing pyramid, API mocking, integration testing, and test coverage strategy.
• Frontend architecture: feature-based structure, code splitting, lazy loading, tree shaking, build optimization, SSR and CSR.
• Performance optimization: React.memo, useMemo, useCallback, virtualized lists, bundle analysis, Lighthouse, and Core Web Vitals.
• API integration: REST, GraphQL, JWT/OAuth authentication, WebSockets, SSE, file uploads, pagination, and error handling.
• Developer tooling: ESLint, Prettier, Husky, lint-staged, Commitlint, Vite, and Webpack.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins, plus Docker and automated deployments.
• Accessibility fundamentals: ARIA, keyboard navigation, and semantic HTML.
• Security awareness: XSS, CSRF, CSP, secure authentication, secure cookie handling, token storage, and RBAC.
• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting thoughtful code reviews.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and make architectural decisions in an Agile or startup environment.

Preferred/Desired Skills:

• React.
• Docker.
• Feature flags and progressive rollouts.
• Monitoring and debugging tools, and performance profiling.
• AI-assisted developer tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar).
• Led migrations such as JavaScript to TypeScript or CRA to Vite.
• Built real-time dashboards using WebSockets or Server-Sent Events.
• Manufacturing, Industrial IoT (IIoT), factory automation, production monitoring, MES, SCADA, or machine telemetry experience.
