About the job

About Us

HomeTeams is an AI-powered care coordination platform that connects patients, families, caregivers, and community support into one shared hub to address a major gap in healthcare: care often occurs outside hospitals and clinics, yet families and care teams often lack the tools to stay coordinated.

To learn more about HomeTeams and our founding story, feel free to read the article from Tech Times.

What You'll Do

As a Senior QA Engineer, you'll own the quality of everything we ship across iOS, Android, and web, from the first-time-user experience to the hardest real-time, AI, and health-data workflows under the hood.

You'll advocate for the user throughout development, catching not just functional bugs but usability problems, confusing flows and edge cases before they reach production. HomeTeams handles families' health information, so reliability and trust are the product.
Responsibilities

Testing strategy & automation

  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies across iOS, Android and web.
  • Design and own end-to-end test automation across platforms (e.g. Detox/Appium/Maestro for mobile, Playwright/Cypress for web), building it where little exists today and focusing it where it delivers the most value.
  • Perform thorough regression testing before every release, across a real device/OS matrix. ** Full customer scenarios**
  • Validate complete, real-world customer journeys end to end such as onboarding, creating a team, inviting members across roles, uploading and sharing health documents, chatting and using the AI Coach, not just isolated features.
  • Test the multi-role permission model and subscription/entitlement tiers to ensure users only see and do what they should.

Backend, integrations & real-time systems

  • Validate REST APIs, authentication (JWT, Firebase MFA, SMS OTP), and edge cases.
  • Test real-time and asynchronous behavior: WebSocket chat, SSE streaming, push notifications (APNs/FCM), and background/scheduled jobs.
  • Verify third-party integrations and their failure modes: Azure Communication Services (chat/email), Stripe/RevenueCat billing, Firebase, cloud storage, and health integrations (insurance claims, Apple Health / Health Connect). ** AI, voice & complex workflows**
  • Test AI-powered conversations for correctness, safety and hallucinations, including tool-driven actions and streaming responses.
  • Test voice experiences (speech-to-text, text-to-speech, live audio/video) across noisy environments and degraded networks.
  • Validate complex multi-step workflows, offline/poor-connectivity behavior, data sync, and caching. ** Security, privacy & data integrity**
  • Treat health data as sensitive: verify access controls, data scoping, secure file access (expiring links) and that private information never leaks across teams or roles.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional QA experience.
  • Extensive experience testing native iOS and Android applications.
  • Strong experience testing modern web applications.
  • Strong API testing experience (REST, auth flows, edge cases).
  • Hands-on experience with E2E test automation on mobile and/or web (e.g. Appium, Detox, Maestro, Playwright, Cypress, etc...).
  • Experience testing apps that rely on real-time or asynchronous systems (WebSockets, streaming, push notifications, background jobs).
  • Excellent understanding of UX and interaction-design principles, and the ability to identify unintuitive workflows and propose actionable improvements.
  • Experience writing detailed, reproducible bug reports.
  • Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical teammates.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for building exceptional products.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

The ideal candidate doesn't stop after confirming that a feature works. They ask questions like:

  • "Would a first-time user understand what to do here?"
  • "Is there a simpler way to accomplish this?"
  • "Does this interaction feel natural?"
  • "What happens if someone makes a mistake or loses connection mid-action?"

We're looking for someone who advocates for our users and helps ensure HomeTeams is not only reliable, but also effortless to use.

What We're Looking For

Beyond technical expertise, we're looking for someone who is naturally curious and passionate about continuously improving their craft.

Technology evolves quickly, and so do we. While today's focus is testing our iOS, Android, and web applications, tomorrow may include new platforms, AI-driven experiences, emerging testing frameworks, and entirely new ways of ensuring software quality.

The ideal candidate embraces change rather than resisting it. They actively seek out better tools, better processes, and better ways to test software. They enjoy learning new technologies, staying informed about industry best practices, and bringing fresh ideas back to the team.

We value engineers who ask questions like:
"Is there a better way to test this?"
"Has a new framework made this easier?"
"Can we automate more of this?"
"How are leading engineering teams solving this today?"
"What can we improve in our QA process next?"
We're building a long-term engineering culture focused on continuous improvement, and we're looking for someone excited to grow alongside it.

Equity

We expect equity to be part of the overall compensation package. The specific amount will be discussed later in the interview process based on experience, role scope, and our stage at the time of hire.

How To Apply

To keep things organized, please apply directly through this posting only. We kindly ask that you do not reach out via LinkedIn, email, or other channels—our team received a high volume of outreach previously, and this helps us review applications fairly and efficiently.

The following is optional (but strongly encouraged): include a short (1–2 minute) video introducing yourself and why our product, mission, or direction resonates with you (Loom, YouTube unlisted, or any link). This is often the clearest way for us to understand your thinking, communication, and motivation.

If you’d prefer not to record a video, you’re absolutely welcome to instead include a few thoughtful sentences on why this problem or mission matters to you—we consider all applications.
