What's The Role
To advise and provide guidance to the company on a range of privacy, data protection and technology related regulatory and compliance matters for Liberty Caribbean’s range of products,services and processes. The role will support the growth and success of the business by assisting with the design and implementation of Liberty Latin America’s (LLA’s) privacy program within Liberty Caribbean markets. Both legal knowledge and technical fluency are highly desired as this role will work closely with security, technology and engineering, marketing, business and operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Support LLA’s Privacy Officer in design and implementation of privacy program
- Act as local Data Protection Officer for some markets, as may be required by applicable laws
- Provide proactive, commercially focused and results-driven legal and regulatory support on privacy related matters to Liberty Caribbean markets
- Provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance to LLA’s Privacy Office, legal counterparts and other business units on privacy and data protection issues and trends
- Coordinate interdepartmental and cross market efforts to implement LLA’s privacy program and applicable privacy regulation (for instance, the principles of data processing, data subjects’ access rights, privacy by design, records of processing activities, security of processing, and data breach response)
- Maintenance of records required to demonstrate data protection compliance
- Perform or oversee initial and periodic privacy impact assessment, risk analyses, mitigation and remediation efforts
- Support training and efforts to foster data privacy compliance culture
- Provide training to the business on key areas of risk as required
- Support security incident response
- Advisory support on key legal and regulatory issues
- Supporting initiatives to embed privacy controls to contracting and third-party due diligence processes
- Support special projects and initiatives as required
What You'll Need
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree
- Legal Education Certificate.
- Privacy/Data protections certifications or credentials preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, data protection, legal or other control-related function in a financial services firm, telecommunications or regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof; experience in area of focus.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated interest in privacy or corporate security (completion of privacy courses or CIPP/CIPM/CIPT/CISSP certifications).
- Knowledge and experience of data privacy legislation and data protection contract drafting, revision and negotiation
