We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to architect and build the backend platform powering a next-generation secure electric vehicle fleet and financing ecosystem.

This is a rare opportunity to own a 0→1 platform where cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, cryptography, IoT, and fintech intersect. You'll design secure backend systems that communicate with connected vehicles, enable remote device management, and power financing solutions that expand access to transportation across emerging markets.

What You'll Build

As the technical owner of the backend platform, you will:

• Design, build, and scale secure backend services from the ground up.
• Architect REST APIs powering web, mobile, and merchant applications.
• Design authentication, authorization, encryption, and key management systems.
• Build cloud-native infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Integrate backend services with IoT and telematics hardware installed on connected electric vehicles.
• Develop secure device provisioning and identity management workflows.
• Build reliable real-time communication using MQTT, WebSockets, and event-driven services.
• Own CI/CD, monitoring, observability, logging, and production operations.
• Define engineering standards, architecture, and long-term platform strategy.

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

Applicants must have:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building production systems.
• Proven experience building backend platforms from 0 to 1 with significant ownership.
• Strong experience designing security-critical systems.

• Expertise in:

  • Authentication

  • Key Management

• Experience building cloud-native applications using AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Strong proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or another modern backend language (Python, Rust, Java, etc.) with the ability to work in Go.

• Experience designing APIs consumed by mobile or web applications.

• Strong database design experience (SQL and/or NoSQL).

• Experience with Docker, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ability to work onsite in Alameda, CA.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
