About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with strong expertise in CNC machining within the automotive manufacturing industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and machining performance.

The successful candidate will lead CNC programming, optimize machining processes, troubleshoot production challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across high-volume manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize CNC machining processes to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce scrap, and increase production throughput.
  • Develop, modify, test, and validate CNC programs for CNC lathes and vertical/horizontal milling machines.
  • Create efficient toolpaths and optimize cutting strategies for automotive components.
  • Select and implement the most effective tooling, inserts, fixtures, and workholding solutions.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including cycle time reduction, tool wear, chatter, dimensional variation, and process stability.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering to support first-piece inspections, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and quality validation.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Provide technical support on the shop floor and assist in resolving production-related issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience programming and operating CNC lathes and milling machines (experience with Fuji and Mori Seiki machines is highly preferred).
  • Proficiency with Mastercam or similar CAM software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), blueprint interpretation, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Zoller tool presetters, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of carbide tooling, inserts, tool holders, and machining best practices.
  • Experience designing or working with hydraulic and pneumatic fixtures and workholding systems.
  • Solid understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability studies, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting skills in a production machining environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining.
  • Experience with ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Proven track record of leading manufacturing process improvement projects.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-driven manufacturing engineer who enjoys working on the production floor, solving complex machining challenges, and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
