Full Stack Engineer — Payments & ACH (AI-Native)

Most "full stack" roles treat payments as a feature. Here it's the product. Running a high-volume ACH and reconciliation engine in one of the most compliance-sensitive corners of U.S. financial services.

AI-native by design — a small team shipping infrastructure-grade payments software at a velocity that should take 3× the headcount. Claude Code, Cursor, and agentic workflows aren't perks here; they're how the work gets done.

Looking for engineers who pair real payments depth with real AI-tooling fluency — people who know what NACHA is.

• Agents are part of the team. Drive Claude Code / Cursor daily — scaffolding services, writing tests, refactoring, exploring unfamiliar code.
• Write for agents, not just humans. Clear agents.md, tight specs, and well-scoped tasks are how you get leverage.
• Evals and guardrails over vibes. AI-generated code moving money gets the same treatment as anything else.
• Taste is the bottleneck. Know what good looks like — schema design, failure modes, API contracts, observability.

You'll own:

• ACH workflows end-to-end
• Production backend services and REST APIs
• Event-driven architecture
• PostgreSQL schemas
• AI-assisted delivery
• CI/CD and test coverage
• Internal React dashboards and ops tooling
• Design docs, run-books, and scalability notes
• Customer-facing work

Requirements:

• Payments: Hands-on experience building ACH workflows — origination, returns, retries, ledgering, or reconciliation
• AI-native development: Already built with Claude Code, Cursor, or similar as a core part of workflow.

Experience:

• 6+ years engineering, strong backend focus: Node.js, Express.js, NestJS (or Hapi), REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, WebSockets, job scheduling
• Architecture: REST + microservices design; event-driven systems (queues, webhooks, retry/failure logic)
• Database: PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, data integrity Cloud
• AWS — Lambda, RDS, SQS, API Gateway, Secrets Manager
• Frontend: React.js, Next.js, Redux / Redux Toolkit, React Hook Form, TanStack Query, Jest, Playwright
• Docs & delivery: OpenAPI / Swagger; CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment
• Working: Agile; cross-functional communicator; end-to-end owner who follows through to production

A plus:

• Agentic depth: MCP servers, custom tools/skills, eval-driven development, multi-agent workflows
• Payment rails: NACHA operating rules; wire, debit card, RTP / FedNow beyond ACH
• Compliance: Regulated fintech — audit logging, idempotency, SOC 2
• Other backend: Java, Spring, or similar enterprise frameworks
