About the job

Founding Technical Product Engineer (Contract to Hire)

Initial engagement will be on a paid contract basis (approximately 20–30 hours/week). Compensation will be based on experience, with the opportunity to transition to a full-time leadership role as the company grows

We're building something ambitious.

Leasah is creating a modern platform for residential leasing and payments. Today we help renters find homes and complete the leasing process. Tomorrow we're building the financial infrastructure that connects renters, landlords, property managers, and banks.

This isn't another SaaS startup chasing the latest trend.

We're solving real problems in an industry that hasn't changed much in decades.

We're looking for our first technical hire.

Not someone who simply waits for tickets.

Someone who enjoys helping shape the product, questioning assumptions, solving difficult problems, and using modern AI tools to dramatically accelerate software development.

This is initially a contract position with the goal of becoming a long-term member of our leadership team as the company grows.

What You'll Do

You'll work directly with the founder to turn ideas into production software.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Translate business ideas into technical solutions.
• Break product features into engineering tasks.
• Lead AI-assisted software development using Codex and modern AI tools.
• Review and improve architecture decisions.
• Build, test, and deploy features to our sandbox environment.
• Review pull requests and maintain high engineering standards.
• Identify technical risks before they become problems.
• Help establish the engineering culture and development processes from day one.

This role is far more than writing code.

You'll help define how the company builds software.

Our Technology

Current technologies include:

• JavaScript / Node.js
• Express
• GitHub
• AWS
• Knack
• REST APIs
• Amazon S3
• AI-assisted development (Codex / ChatGPT)

Experience with every technology isn't required.

The ability to learn quickly is.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who:

• Loves building products from scratch.
• Enjoys solving business problems—not just coding.
• Thinks like an engineer and a product owner.
• Uses AI as a force multiplier instead of fearing it.
• Communicates clearly.
• Can work independently without constant supervision.
• Isn't afraid to respectfully challenge ideas when there's a better solution.
• Takes pride in building software that people actually use.

Startup experience or fintech experience is a plus, but curiosity, ownership, and sound judgment matter more.

This Role Probably Isn't For You If...

• You prefer highly structured corporate environments.
• You expect detailed technical specifications before starting every task.
• You dislike ambiguity.
• You aren't interested in using AI as part of your daily workflow.

This Role Might Be Perfect If...

You want to look back five years from now and honestly say:

"I helped build that."

You'll work directly with the founder, influence technical decisions, and help shape the future of a company from its earliest stages.

To Apply

Instead of submitting only a resume, please include answers to the following:

  1. What product have you built that you're most proud of, and what was your role?

  2. How are you currently using AI tools such as Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar in your daily workflow?

  3. If you were starting a fintech company today, what's one engineering mistake you'd avoid?

  4. Why does this opportunity interest you more than joining an established engineering team?

Please also include links to your GitHub, LinkedIn, portfolio, or any projects you'd like us to review.
