Embedded Systems Engineer (Freelance)

We're building RADO, a smart outdoor advertising enclosure, and are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer. This is a 2-month contract with the potential to convert into a full-time role.

Responsibilities:
Design and develop the embedded control system (Raspberry Pi / ESP32 or suitable platform).
Integrate and program the QR scanner to detect component and update status.
Develop the device communication layer between the hardware and our software/app.
Implement unique device ID registration for each RADO unit.
Implementing manual + app-ready remote controls.
Integrate 4G/Wi-Fi connectivity for cloud communication.
Design and implement prototype wiring, modules, relays, and hardware integration.
Keep the architecture modular and ready for future tech integrations.

Requirements:
3+ years of embedded systems experience (required).
Strong experience with Raspberry Pi and/or ESP32.
Experience integrating sensors, QR/barcode scanners, relays, GPIO, and communication modules.
Knowledge of UART, I2C, SPI, USB, MQTT, HTTP/REST, and networking.
Experience connecting embedded devices with cloud platforms, APIs, or mobile applications.
Ability to prototype, debug, and document hardware and firmware.
Experience building production-ready IoT devices is a plus.

Bonus: Experience with LED display controllers, OTA updates, remote device management, or industrial IoT systems.
