The role
We are seeking a Backend Developer Intern (Node.js / TypeScript) to join our team.

You'll design, build, and improve the backend services that support our AR product in the field — including REST APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. You'll work closely with our frontend, iOS, and XR / Unity developers who consume your APIs, and be expected to operate with a high level of independence on technical decisions.

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable REST APIs in Node.js and TypeScript
• Model and optimise PostgreSQL databases
• Work with AWS and backend infrastructure
• Integrate backend systems with AR applications and ML pipelines
• Improve performance, reliability, and system design
• Write and maintain tests (unit & integration)
• Debug and resolve real production issues

What we're looking for

• Strong, production-level experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping REST APIs
• PostgreSQL — schema design, query work, real data modelling
• AWS — comfortable deploying and running services in production
• Solid system design instincts for scalability and reliability
• Self-direction — able to scope your own work, make technical decisions, and ship without heavy guidance

Nice to have

• Event-driven architectures (queues, pub/sub, async pipelines)
• CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Experience with serverless (Lambda, ECS) or container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Exposure to AR/XR systems or ML pipelines

• You must be based in the EU / EEA

This role involves contributing directly to production systems — not shadow or support work.
