About the Company
4C Software is a prediction markets company powering high-volume sports trading infrastructure through our platforms 4casters and 4cx. Over the last 12 months, more than $1B has been traded across our systems. We’re a profitable team of fewer than 10 people who have been building in prediction markets since 2017, and we’re on pace for $2M–$3M in revenue this year. We ship quickly, work with minimal bureaucracy, and expect engineers to operate with autonomy and take ownership of the features they build.

We are looking for an engineer who has personal experience using sportsbooks or prediction markets and is based in, or willing to relocate to, Chicago.

You will be learning and improving an existing exchange system that already processes significant trading volume. The right person will be comfortable understanding systems they did not originally build, asking good questions, making careful changes, and gradually taking ownership of critical parts of the platform.

We want a driven, high-agency developer who has an interest in trading sports and an interest prediction markets. This person ideally has personal projects that show interest in the space. The best candidates will reach out directly and explain why they are the right fit.

What you’ll bring to the table

• Proficiency nodeJs/typescript
• Experience working with 3rd party APIs and data feeds
• Passion for trading and building software
• Methodical, thoughtful approach to problem solving
• Strong instincts diagnosing problems in real time

What you’ll do

• Optimize market creation, start times, suspensions, and life cycle rules
• Develop new order types
• Improve live betting systems and real time market behavior
• Expand trading technologies
• Take ownership over your work, including monitoring, deployment, debugging, and paths for future improvements

Your work will directly impact the product, users, and trading volume right away

Starting compensation: $90K–$150K, with options for equity, depending on experience.
