About Prosperous Research Systems

Prosperous Research Systems (PRS) is building a research-grade, contactless brain-computer interface platform for assistive communication and intent-to-output interaction. Our system uses ultrasonic sensing, RF sensing, and machine learning to explore whether intent-related signals can be captured without implants, caps, gels, or wearable headsets.

We are currently approaching MVP and are looking for an electrical engineer to help us iterate our PCB/prototype and move toward a more repeatable, pilot-ready hardware design.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong PCB design, mixed-signal electronics, and sensor hardware experience to support the next phase of our prototype. This person will help refine our hardware architecture, improve signal acquisition quality, and design/iterate PCB layouts for contactless ultrasonic + RF sensing.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment where the work involves technical problem-solving, rapid iteration, and translating an experimental concept into a cleaner, more reliable prototype.

Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and iterate PCB layouts for PRS’s contactless sensing prototype
  • Support mixed-signal circuit design involving analog front-end, digital control, and sensor interfaces
  • Assist with ultrasonic transducer driver/receiver circuitry and RF sensing considerations
  • Improve signal integrity, grounding, shielding, power management, and noise reduction
  • Help select components, sensors, microcontrollers, ADCs/DACs, and supporting circuitry
  • Collaborate with the founder and technical partners to define hardware requirements
  • Support prototype bring-up, debugging, bench testing, and hardware validation
  • Document design decisions, test results, and next-step recommendations
  • Prepare the hardware design for future manufacturability and pilot deployment

Ideal Background

  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical background
  • Experience designing PCBs in KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of mixed-signal circuit design
  • Experience with RF systems, antennas, impedance matching, shielding, or low-noise signal acquisition
  • Experience with ultrasonic transducers, sensor arrays, biomedical instrumentation, or embedded sensor systems is a major plus
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, SPI/I2C/UART, and embedded hardware interfaces
  • Comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and other bench tools
  • Interest in neurotechnology, assistive communication, BCI, HCI, or accessibility technology

Nice to Have

  • Experience with RF/microwave sensing, radar, mmWave, or bio-signal sensing
  • Experience with ultrasound hardware or acoustic sensing systems
  • Experience with wearable, medical, or research-grade device prototyping
  • Familiarity with signal processing, ML data pipelines, or sensor fusion
  • Prior startup, research lab, or rapid prototyping experience

Compensation

PRS is an early-stage, pre-seed startup. Compensation structure is flexible and may include contract pay, equity, milestone-based compensation, or a combination depending on fit, availability, and experience.
