Founding Full-Stack Engineer

Opaxa (opaxa.ai) is artificial intelligence that runs the restaurant back office, built and proven inside a 40-location restaurant operator.
The founder co-leads a 40-location restaurant company that serves as Opaxa's live proving ground, with real POS data, real payroll, and real operations across major U.S. airports. A working prototype is already in place, including demand forecasting, labor recommendations, and a seven-agent architecture with graduated autonomy that moves from suggesting to confirming to acting on its own. We are hiring a founding engineer to take it from prototype to product.
You will own everything technical: the data pipelines across Toast POS, payroll, scheduling, and flight and weather signals; the agent architecture and its trust and safety model; the React/TypeScript front end; and the path to multi-tenant SaaS. You will work directly with the founder, who brings deep restaurant domain knowledge and a built-in customer base.
The right person is a full-stack engineer who uses AI tooling as a force multiplier, including Claude Code, Cursor, and agentic workflows, and stays on the frontier of what these tools can do. You have taken a product from zero to production and want founder-level ownership. Experience with agentic systems, LLM pipelines, or data-heavy integrations is a strong plus.
The company is well funded with no venture pressure, and there are real customers from day one. This is the first engineering hire, with compensation of $200K to $280K plus founding equity.
