About the Eng. Team
We are a remote-first distributed Engineering team. You will be working within this group and closely with Product, Design, Business & Operation teams. Each team member is given a large amount of leeway and responsibility and operates in a highly collaborative environment.

- User facing interfaces
- Optimized operation workflows
- Data processing and analytics

Responsibilities
Own the people, process, and product partnership for a team. The EM is responsible for building a high-performing team, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring a predictable delivery engine. They remove human and organizational blockers so the Tech Lead and engineers can focus on technical execution.
You are ultimately responsible for team execution.
Core responsibilities:
- Manage a team of engineers
- Contribute to the codebase as a software developer, maintain empathy for the team by keeping awareness of engineering processes and practices. Examples might be: evaluating individual workflow during one on ones, conducting code reviews, or working on non-critical path bugs and/or features.
- Help with sprint planning and project breakdown
- Participate in on-call rotations, and other ownership areas, assisting developers in coordinating fixes for technical debt, performance issues, product health etc.
- Help developer productivity, including investigating recent productivity gains in software development
- Hold 1:1 with engineers you manage and other team members
- Help build a globally distributed high performing, lean, engineering team, according to company values.
- Build and own team OKRs.
- Own the hiring plan, conduct interviews, and help coach the team to conduct meaningful technical interviews.
- Grasp over technical tradeoffs and time to market, able to negotiate with company goals in mind, does not chase clout
- Keep an eye on, understand, and improve development processes
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and other business stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years development experience in related field
- 2+ years previous successful management experience
- Ruby on Rails experience
- Modern Javascript framework experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Deep understanding of technology
- Proven record of shipping features on time and on budget
- Flexible and focused on solutions
- Organized and self-sufficient

- Interest and experience in tourism / retail / fintech / payments
