About Us

The German for Girls in Tech initiative empowers women and girls across Africa who are skilled in tech by equipping them with essential German language skills and connecting them to job opportunities in Germany and other German-speaking regions.

Role Overview

The Event Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of events, and workshops that support and promote the initiative. Additionally, you will play a key role in nurturing our thriving community.

Key Responsibilities

• Event Planning and Execution: Design, plan, and execute engaging events.
• Logistics Coordination: Manage event schedules and resources to ensure smooth operations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with speakers, participants, and program partners to deliver impactful events.
• Promotion and Marketing: Collaborate with the social media team to promote events and drive attendance.
• Participant Engagement: Create a welcoming environment.
• Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback post-events to improve future offerings continuously.
• Community Management: Foster a sense of belonging within the community through regular engagement, interaction, and support.

Key Qualifications

• Proven experience managing events.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in community management or building strong, engaged groups is highly desirable.
• Tech-savvy and familiar with virtual event platforms and tools (Zoom, Eventbrite, etc.).
• Passion for empowering women, promoting diversity in tech, and creating inclusive spaces.
• Familiarity with German culture or language is a plus but not required.
