We are a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Supplier Quality Engineer. This position reports to Quality Manager and will work in Litchfield, Illinois.

About The Position

As a Supplier Quality Engineer in the Quality team, you will be involved in qualifying new suppliers, develop new suppliers, support systemic supplier improvement, and resolve major supplier performance issues. SQE must have in-depth expertise in supplier quality fundamentals and have comprehensive experience with problem-solving tools.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Develop Supplier Improvement plans for key strategic and low-performing suppliers.
  • Drive supplier improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, advanced APQP tools, supplier scorecards, and supplier assessments.
  • Develop and maintain Supplier Audit program.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances using various problem-solving techniques.
  • Support Part validation and Sample Approval process by reviewing PPAP Documents and physical samples on new Product Introductions and sourcing related changes.
  • Maintain and analyze key Supplier Quality Metrics.
  • Responsible for developing monthly and Quarterly supplier quality reports and presentations.
  • Develop and Maintain Receiving inspection plans for Key suppliers and part numbers.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between Sierra and its suppliers
  • Assist in the selection of new suppliers and support buyers to obtain the best value components concerning quality, delivery and cost

A suitable background would be a solid experience within various Manufacturing processes and Supplier auditing – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Supplier Quality with mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and/or hydraulic components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Systems and CQE from ASQ is preferred.
  • Knowledge of APQP processes resulting in PPAP.
  • Experience in conducting onsite Supplier Audits
  • Knowledge and experience using Structured Problem-Solving methodology (PDCA, 8D, DMAIC, Etc.) to resolve issues.
  • Previous experience in the marine industry OEM or aftermarket is preferred. Other industries such as automotive or industrial OEM or aftermarket components will also be considered.
  • Experience working with off-shore component suppliers preferred.
  • Manufacturing process experience such as Molding , Casting , Metal Fabrication , Welding , Machining etc.
  • Use of Statistical Analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.) to solutions.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean principle certification preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, a valid passport, and the ability to travel internationally.
