Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer able to work with a small team, embrace new challenges, and lead engineering efforts through investigations and finding solutions to complex problems. This individual will be responsible for the design and development of novel medical devices, and supporting key projects associated with other catheters and implants.

This role requires a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic startup environment, executes responsibilities with a can-do attitude, and is passionate about developing innovative solutions for pediatric patients. This candidate will report directly to the Sr. Director of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of new medical devices tailored to pediatric patients
• Organize and execute engineering studies with clear communication
• Lead collaborative technical meetings
• Support sustaining efforts of commercial devices
• Conduct thorough root cause analyses to find solutions to complex problems
• Write clear technical documentation packages for validations
• Manage day-to-day development activities and support R&D team as needed.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to develop and sustain new and commercial products.
• Maintain compliance with medical device quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• 2+ years of R&D experience in medical device; Class III and catheter-based device experience required (3+ years preferred)
• Experience translating concepts to engineered prototypes and commercial products
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis
• CAD skills for product design (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
• Demonstrated ability to train and lead technicians and operators
• Experience with process development and/or manufacturing transfers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate complex project needs
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience and knowledge of medical device design controls
