About the job

Overview

We’re seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to do their life’s work advancing general-purpose labor—someone driven to become the best in their craft. You’ll thrive in a small, tight-knit team with real ownership. This is the chance to bet on yourself, build the future, and create impact far beyond the lab.

Company Description

Feather Robotics, a VC-backed startup, is assembling a world-class team to build general-purpose robots. While competitors pursue end-to-end integration, Feather is relentlessly focused on creating the best labor platform, akin to Apple and Nvidia, for others to build, monetize, and scale on.

Feather blends cutting-edge robotics and AI with speed, capital efficiency, and go-to-market innovation. In under six months, Feather became one of the fastest humanoid companies to revenue with 6 LOIs and 5 paid orders (vs 31 months for Figure).

Responsibilities:

  • Own hardware designs from Concept → CAD → prototype → production.
  • Lead fit, finish, and performance mechanical designs.
  • Design for manufacturing: machining, injection molding, assembly, and die casting.
  • Run FEA, and reliability testing.
  • Create detailed GD&T drawings and assembly documents for production.
  • Wire harness design
  • Some electrical engineering work related to wire routing, battery management systems, battery monitoring systems and more.
  • Hands on building with fabrication tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 2+ years experience designing products and complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience bringing products to market.
  • Experience at a large consumer product firm is a plus (2 years +).
  • Expert CAD skills (Fusion is a bonus).
  • Experience in machining, injection molding, die casting, and assembly.
  • Expert GD&T knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of FEA.
  • Hands-on experience with prototypes, shop tools, and bringing hardware to life.
  • Exposure to electrical engineering is a big plus.
  • Some leadership experience.
