The Opportunity
The Sr. Database Administrator, is responsible for driving database technology lifecycle initiatives and building next‑generation database infrastructure solutions. This role collaborates with Team Leads on product and delivery requirements, technical roadmaps, and organizational vision. The Sr. Database Administrator researches, evaluates, and recommends new database technologies to support the strategic direction of the business while providing leadership and technical oversight to the database administration function.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities Include
- Provide leadership, technical supervision, and deep subject‑matter expertise to multiple teams operating across complex, organization‑wide technical initiatives.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement robust security measures to safeguard information across all database environments and prevent accidental or unauthorized access, damage, modification, or disclosure.
- Oversee and participate in testing, troubleshooting, error correction, and system modifications as required to support platform stability and performance.
- Develop and implement organization‑wide standards, policies, and guidelines for database administration and data lifecycle management.
- Define departmental OKRs and ensure alignment with enterprise‑wide strategic and operational goals.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve best practices and procedures for database administration.
- Provide strategic oversight and technical direction for the design, deployment, and maintenance of large‑scale database platforms.
- Cultivate strong cross‑functional partnerships with Product, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and other internal stakeholders to ensure technical alignment and operational excellence.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation approximately one week every 5–6 weeks to ensure continuous support and availability of mission‑critical database systems.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems , Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience
- 13+ years of experience with database systems and platforms as they relate to technical infrastructure, including:
- Oracle, Oracle RAC, and Oracle RAC One
- SQL Server
- Linux OS
- Windows OS
- 9+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent problem‑solving ability and strong communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the database platforms under administration.
- Strong technical aptitude and proven experience managing complex database environments.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and functional areas.
- Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to lead large‑scale technical initiatives.
Certifications
- Recognized industry accreditation from a reputable organization recommended (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft, AWS, Linux Foundation).
