Valant is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering and systems initiatives, driving scalability, reliability, and innovation across our technology ecosystem. This role will oversee the data team, guide the evolution of our data warehouse strategy, and spearhead external projects that enable interoperability and growth. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with strategic leadership, ensuring our systems support both internal operations and external client needs.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Data Team

Manage and mentor data engineers and related technical staff.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Own Data Warehouse Strategy & GTM Planning

Drive architecture and implementation of the data warehouse.
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams to align data capabilities with business objectives.

Lead External Data Projects

Oversee new and emerging external initiatives (e.g., HIE integrations, external data feeds) until standardized processes are established.
Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and security protocols.

Systems-Level Leadership

Act as a co-leader with senior engineering leadership on process improvement and implementation across technology teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Engage with stakeholders across Product, Customer Success, and Operations to ensure alignment on technical priorities.
Represent Systems Engineering in strategic planning discussions.

What You’ll Need

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years in technical leadership roles, with experience in systems engineering or data architecture.
Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex technical projects.
Strong understanding of data warehouse design, ETL processes, and cloud-based architectures.
Strong SQL skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

Experience with Snowflake, AWS data tools (e.g., DMS).
Experience in healthcare technology or interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
Familiarity with HIE implementations and external data integrations.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HI TRUST).

Salary Range for this position is $130,000-160,000
