Backend Developer (Node.js / AWS Serverless) - 100% Remote

About the Role

We're looking for a backend developer who respects existing architecture. Gumb has a production codebase that works, and we need an engineer who takes ownership of it rather than rewriting it in the latest framework. If you're uncomfortable working with legacy systems, this role isn't for you.

You'll work directly on our serverless backend on AWS, maintaining and extending the platform our users rely on every day.

Do Not Apply If

• Your AWS work is EC2, S3 or containers (ECS, EKS, Fargate) rather than Lambda
• You use Prisma, TypeORM, Drizzle or Knex instead of Sequelize
• You deploy with CDK, SAM or Terraform instead of Serverless Framework 3.x
• Node.js is not your primary backend language
• You have less than 3 years of professional backend experience
• You run a company, freelance on the side or hold a co-founder role. This position is full time and exclusive

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Node.js as your primary stack
• Hands-on production experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito and S3, not tutorials or side projects
• PostgreSQL with Sequelize ORM in production
• Serverless Framework 3.x in production
• Comfortable maintaining and improving legacy codebases, not just greenfield projects
• Strong written communication in English
