About the job
About The Landline Company
Landline is building infrastructure that lets passengers clear security and check in for their flight closer to home — before they ever reach the airport. We provide seamless ground connectivity on behalf of American Airlines, Air Canada, and other major carriers, integrating booking, secure transport, and baggage handling into a single ticket across a growing North American network.
Backed by top-tier venture investors and partners like CLEAR, we've spent five years making the travel day seamless for millions of passengers. Now we're building the next piece: secure remote checkpoints that let travelers clear security and check in in the city.
Job Summary
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll embed with the operations teams running our operations across 7 hub airports in North America — and build the automation and agentic systems that make their work faster, more reliable, and more scalable. This is not a role where you build in isolation and hand off. You'll spend time on the ground watching how our staff actually move passengers, bags, and vehicles through a live 24/7 operation, identify what's slow or manual or error-prone, and ship tooling that fixes it.
You'll build agentic workflows that our field staff use in real operational settings: automating booking exceptions, baggage reconciliation, checkpoint throughput, real-time passenger communications, and the dozens of edge cases that come with running physical operations across a distributed network. You'll own these systems end to end, from the backend services and infrastructure to the interfaces our operators rely on.
This is a hands-on role with real end-to-end ownership on a lean, high-output team. You'll work directly with the people making operational decisions, ship frequently, and own what you build. Expect to travel to a hub roughly once every few weeks to stay close to the work.
What We're Looking For
- Python/Django backend, production-grade — you've built and maintained services in production, not just contributed to them
- Agentic or automation experience — LLM-driven workflows, orchestration, tool-calling, or process automation that real users depend on
- GCP and Kubernetes ownership — infrastructure is part of your work, not someone else's problem
- React frontend capability — comfortable owning a full feature from API to operator-facing UI
- Strong instincts around reliability, data integrity, and system design in environments where failures have real downstream consequences on physical operations
- Comfort working in the field and translating messy, real-world operational problems into shipped software
- Willingness to travel to hub airports roughly every few weeks
- Travel startup or fintech background a plus — familiarity with reservation systems, payment flows, or regulated data environments will accelerate your ramp significantly
Why Join
- Impact — Ground-floor ownership of the automation layer behind Landline's newest product
- Proximity — You'll see your software used by real operators in a live operation, and iterate on it in days, not quarters
- Culture — A small, ambitious team that values speed, creativity, autonomy, and bias for action
What We Offer
- Global flight privileges through airline partners
- Flexible, remote-friendly work environment (with regular travel to hubs)
- Competitive salary, 401(k), and PTO
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
- The opportunity to contribute to sustainable transportation and redefine how people travel
