Job Summary:
The Surveillance Staff is responsible for monitoring the premises via security cameras and
other surveillance equipment. This role involves detecting and preventing any suspicious or
criminal activities, ensuring the safety and security of the organization and its personnel,
and providing documentation and reporting when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Surveillance Equipment: o Actively monitor video feeds from security cameras to detect suspicious behavior or incidents. o Operate and maintain surveillance equipment, ensuring all cameras are functional.
- Detect and Report Incidents: o Identify potential theft, fraud, vandalism, or any other form of criminal activity. o Alert appropriate authorities (security, police, etc.) when necessary. o Maintain logs and written reports of all suspicious activities and incidents.
- Maintain Confidentiality: o Handle all surveillance footage and information with the utmost confidentiality and in compliance with legal requirements. o Ensure that all footage is properly stored and accessible for review.
- Collaborate with Other Security Staff: o Work closely with security personnel, law enforcement, and management to resolve security issues. o Provide real-time support and feedback to security teams during incidents or emergencies.
- Conduct Investigations: o Assist in the investigation of reported incidents, reviewing video footage and providing necessary evidence. o Conduct regular checks of the facility to identify potential security weaknesses.
- Follow Security Protocols: o Adhere to established security policies and procedures. o Be alert and responsive to any emergency situation, following the proper escalation protocols.
- Perform Routine Inspections: o Regularly test and inspect surveillance systems to ensure they are functioning optimally. o Check camera positions and make necessary adjustments to capture full coverage. Required Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certifications). • Proven experience in security or surveillance roles (preferred). • Knowledge of surveillance equipment and systems. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Ability to remain calm and alert in stressful situations. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while monitoring surveillance screens. • May require occasional lifting of surveillance equipment or materials. Work Environment: • The role typically takes place in a control room with access to video feeds and other surveillance systems. • Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on the employer's needs.
