Backend Engineer

Simwave is a start-up in the transportation education sector and our ambition is to revolutionise learning in the sector through a mix of e-learning, simulators, classroom training and assessments. To this end we are expanding fast and looking to add to our growing team.
At this stage backend developers are key members of the project implementation team and we are eagerly looking for self starters with a passion to build an extraordinary platform.
As a Backend Developer you are part of the development team of Simwave Netherlands with a focus on the development and implementation of the Learning Management System and Competency Management System of Simwave. Technologies used are React, Node.js and GraphQL.

Skills & requirements

• A love for new technologies, best coding practices and a curious result driven mindset. Being flexible to work with a wide range of technologies
• Experienced in C# and .Net 6+
• Advanced knowledge of OOP and SOLID principles
• Expert in unit test development frameworks like xUnit
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON data structures and incorporation of 3rd party API's into the software stack
• Understanding of communications through WebSockets
• Experience with database operations in SQL
• Familiarity with BPMN, BPMS, and Workflow Engines
• Good understanding of standard web languages ​​such as HTML/CSS/JS. Any other languages ​​are considered a plus
• Good knowledge of design patterns in software development
• Project management skills, adherence to SDLC practices and software design principles
• Understanding of GitHub practices and version control
• Not easily flustered by debugging applications and enjoys the challenges of development
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Customer oriented and focused on results
• Good team worker with a flexible approach
• Be quality conscious, service minded and creative
• Fluent in English - both verbal and written

Nice to have

• Experience with frameworks such as React, GraphQL
• Familiarity with Next.js and Server Side Rendering
• Familiar with cloud deployment in the AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes basic operations in Linux and command-line operations
• Familiarity with networking and protocols
• Affinity with education and training
• Any active GitHub repositories you would like to share and/or a portfolio website of your projects
