The Role

We’re looking for a freelance Content Writer with hands-on experience in web design, particularly with Wix and/or Squarespace. This role is perfect for someone who understands website design and enjoys translating that knowledge into clear, actionable guides. You’ll be responsible for creating content that helps small business owners and professionals get the most out of these platforms, from setting up an online store to optimizing for SEO.

You’ll work closely with our content manager and a team of web design experts to ensure your guides are accurate, practical, and aligned with the needs of our audience.

This is a retainer-based position with a guaranteed fixed monthly rate for full-time availability.

What You’ll Do

• Write specialized guides: Develop clear, insightful content that addresses a range of practical topics related to website creation and optimization, tailored to the needs of business owners and professionals using Wix and Squarespace.
• Use your web design experience: Bring your hands-on knowledge of Wix and/or Squarespace to develop content that’s practical, insightful, and easy to follow.
• Collaborate with experts: Work alongside web design consultants and our content team to ensure your content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with our broader strategy.
• Stay ahead of the curve: Research the latest trends in web design, small business needs, and digital marketing to help keep our content relevant and valuable to our audience.
• Apply SEO and marketing insights: Weave in SEO and marketing principles to make sure your guides are not only informative but also optimized for search engines.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with Wix and/or Squarespace: You’ve built or managed websites on these platforms and know the ins and outs. You don’t need to be a full-fledged designer, but you should have enough experience to provide practical guidance.
• Writing expertise: You’re a strong writer with a knack for explaining complex ideas in clear, simple terms. A portfolio of published content, especially in web design or digital marketing, is a big plus.
• Solid understanding of web design: You understand the key principles of web design and user experience (UX), particularly as they apply to small business websites.
• Deadline-driven: You’re organized, manage your time well, and can consistently meet deadlines while working within a structured content calendar.

Nice-to-Haves

• Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Some familiarity with CRO principles would be helpful, especially if you know how to write content that helps websites convert visitors into customers.
• Branding and marketing awareness: You understand how branding and digital marketing influence web design and content strategy.
• SEO knowledge: If you’re familiar with SEO best practices, that’s a bonus.
• Strong research and ideation skills: You’re skilled at uncovering web design trends and identifying key challenges small businesses face online. Your ideas are always focused on delivering real value—helping our audience grow their websites and achieve real success.
