About the job
About Us:
Flyward, a cutting-edge technology company rooted in Silicon Valley, is reshaping the future of urban air travel. We're building the next generation of fully autonomous eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles), or flying cars, to make air travel more accessible, efficient, and safe. Our team of passionate innovators is committed to pushing the boundaries of technology, leveraging advanced AI and autonomous navigation to turn the dream of urban air mobility into reality.
Position: Flight Planning and Control Algorithms Engineer/Intern
As a Flight Planning and Control Algorithms Engineer/Intern, you'll play a critical role in developing the brain behind our autonomous aerial vehicles. You'll design and implement the flight control system architecture and algorithms that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable flight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect the Future: Build the software architecture of the flight control system, encompassing modules for behavior planning, route planning, trajectory planning, attitude control, and mission management.
- Algorithm Wizardry: Design, implement, optimize, test, and simulate flight control algorithms, seamlessly integrating them with the autonomous flight system.
- Performance Optimization: Contribute to performance optimization and reliability verification of the flight control system, ensuring adherence to aviation safety and industry standards.
- Technical Documentation: Write and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for the flight control system, providing system support and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Aeronautics and Astronautics, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related fields.
- One year of experience in C/C++ and Python for practical project development.
- Knowledge of route and aerial vehicle motion planning algorithms (A, RRT, D, etc.).
- Familiarity with trajectory planning algorithms (polynomial fitting, B-spline, PID, LQR, MPC, and other modern control theory).
- Understanding of attitude control algorithms and control system robustness.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience integrating ROS/ROS 2 with flight control systems.
- Familiarity with PX4 or similar drone architectures and experience with MavLink development.
- Experience using robot simulation software such as Gazebo, RViz.
- Experience in developing automated systems, such as drones, large aircraft, robots, or autonomous driving systems.
- Mastery of multi-sensor data fusion algorithms for tracking and estimating the position of aerial vehicles (such as EKF, factor graphs).
Benefits:
- Competitive salary and profit-sharing plan.
- Flexible remote work model, open to global talent.
- Participation in cutting-edge technology research and development, driving innovation in air traffic technology.
- Rich opportunities for career development and skill enhancement training.
Working Hours: While there are no fixed daily working hour requirements, we expect quality work and timely task completion.
Work Location:
We accept 100% remote work. Work from any location and at any time.
