Givens Estates, a leading nonprofit provider of senior housing and health services in WNC, is looking to hire a full-time, salaried RN Staff Development Coordinator at our campus in Asheville, NC. Givens Estates is one of two Life Plan Communities offered by Givens Communities, along with Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain. Based at Givens Estates, this role will have opportunities to collaborate with clinical education staff across campuses.

Reporting to the Health Services Director, this role's primary responsibility will be developing and implementing clinical education and infection prevention programs for clinical and non-clinical staff for Givens Estates Health Services. The RN Staff Development Coordinator will implement these programs based on needs assessments and in compliance with all current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility. You will work with input from direct care staff and be part of the leadership team to identify and implement educational and process improvement opportunities.

What you'll do:

  • Develop Clinical Education and Infection Prevention programs for Health Services in Givens Estates Health Center & Wood Assisted Living
  • Collaborate with the Health Services Director, Directors of Nursing, Communities Clinical Educator, & Training and Development Director to understand training needs
  • Conduct learning needs assessments to identify practice gaps and performance improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate and maintain new hire credentialing for initial and ongoing license, certification, and other credential verifications
  • Participate in New Employee Orientation by conducting basic infection prevention training and health screenings such as TB testing, Hepatitis B, Influenza, and COVID
  • Plan and conduct the Nursing Department new employee orientation for clinical staff
  • Conduct skills competency evaluations for new staff at time of orientation and annually
  • Obtain and maintain NC SPICE Infection Control Program Certification
  • Oversee the Infection Control Program, including the Exposure Control Plan and report any findings or performance improvement recommendations
  • Offer or arrange for as needed, CPR and/or NC Feeding Assistant classes
  • Collaborate with the Communities Clinical Educator as needed on educational programs of mutual interest across campuses
  • Support the Givens Communities Nurse Aide Training & Medication Aide Programs by working with the coordinator on student clinical training as needed
  • Participate as requested with company-wide trainings, committees, meetings

What you'll need:

  • Current unencumbered RN license in North Carolina or applicable compact state
  • BSN preferred or ADN with Bachelor’s in related field
  • CPR – BLS Health Care Provider
  • Three – five years RN experience in any clinical setting
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience in a long-term care or other geriatric care setting
  • Adult education experience such as precepting, teaching, training, or coaching preferred, but not required
  • Proficient knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy
  • Superior communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt with minimal supervision

Compensation $75k-$80k, salaried, based on experience, and includes our comprehensive benefits package.
