About the job

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

The Global Compliance Services (GCS) team at Airbnb partners with cross-functional teams across the company to scale their compliance capabilities. Our Compliance Program Management function within GCS leads compliance initiatives, designs and develops compliance solutions, and streamlines the adoption of shared tools and technologies. Our team is guided by well-defined objectives and a commitment to operational excellence.

The Difference You Will Make:

As Technical Compliance Program Lead at Airbnb, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling our compliance capabilities by designing, developing and implementing technology-enabled solutions. Your mission will be to collaborate closely with compliance leaders to innovate, build, pilot, and deploy effective compliance programs that are aligned with the company’s strategic priorities and growth initiatives. With your specialized knowledge and experience in technology program management and understanding of risk and compliance frameworks, you will design solutions that not only address current needs but are also scalable and adaptable for future requirements.

Success in this role is measured by your ability to navigate diverse perspectives and identify the most impactful priorities to develop effective compliance solutions. The role requires proactiveness while working independently through ambiguity.

A Typical Day:

As a leader on the Global Compliance Services team, you will partner with cross-functional teams across the company to work on the following:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of technology-driven compliance programs that support and enhance compliance across various functions within the company.
  • Coordinate with compliance, technology, product, marketing, engineering, analytics, legal, and other stakeholders to promote compliance best practices and drive the successful implementation of compliance technologies and programs.
  • Develop and present comprehensive compliance reports for senior leaders and executives, highlighting progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations for technology-related compliance topics.
  • Collaborate closely with compliance teams to identify potential technology solutions that mitigate risks and enhance compliance processes.
  • Develop innovative and data-driven compliance methodologies and processes to support the needs of each compliance program.

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years of technical compliance risk management and/or technology program management, preferably in a global technology platform company.
  • Proven record in translating policy and business requirements to develop technical solutions to compliance problems.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Skilled at developing executive reporting, with experience presenting to senior management across different business lines.
  • Ability to lead multiple cross-functional projects at one time with good time management.
  • You may not be a compliance expert, but you have the capability to understand global laws and regulations that impact online platforms.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with data analytics tools (Tableau, Superset).
  • Experience implementing governance, risk, and compliance tools.
  • Expertise with enterprise project management tools.
  • Compliance-related certifications are a plus, but not required.
  • BA/BS degree.
