Bookkeeping Strategist

$8-12/hour USD

Position Description

Are you passionate about numbers, love diving into the details, quick to adopt the latest tools and technology, and never met a process that couldn’t be automated? If yes, keep reading.

We’re looking for a tech-savvy, critically-thinking Bookkeeping Strategist to support our Operations/Bookkeeping team. The ideal candidate revels in the details, checking off to-do lists, and keeping business financials organized.

This is not your typical data-entry bookkeeper. We use the latest technology to automate the manual parts of the role as much as possible, and in return our Bookkeeping Strategists get to use their biggest asset: their brain. Our Bookkeeping Strategists are expected to drive growth for their clients by streamlining processes, building tools and automations, and searching out cost-saving and profit-growing opportunities within their books.

We do things differently here and provide lots of on-the-job training. As such, no bookkeeping experience is necessary for this role.

Responsibilities

Process Improvement:

  • Streamline client processes by building tools and automations
  • Adopt technology into daily/weekly/monthly processes to minimize time spent doing manual tasks
  • Continuously evaluate company and client processes for opportunities for improvement/efficiency

Bookkeeping:

  • Input bills and invoices into QuickBooks Online
  • Categorize transactions
  • Prepare financial reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Good with numbers: Has a natural aptitude for understanding and working with numbers, with the ability to process information and identify trends from data.
  • Problem solver: Thrives on identifying and addressing challenges, using their analytical and creative thinking skills to develop effective solutions.
  • Detail oriented: Relishes the details and doesn't let anything fall through the cracks. Accurate and makes very few mistakes.
  • Tech savvy: Adept at learning new technology and tools and integrating them into their work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formatting, formulas, graphing)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of business finance concepts
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with automation tools such as Zapier, Make/Integromat, or similar

Hiring Process

We are firm believers in data and objective assessments to reduce bias in the hiring process. For that reason we leverage an assessment tool before asking for any other information. This allows us to rate candidates on the core competencies and skills needed for the role and streamline the interview experience.

Process outline:

Online assessment – Estimated time is 38-45 minutes. The assessment is divided into 4 parts, each chosen with much thought to cover the technical skills required for the job. Doing this assessment allows us to focus our interview time on core values.

  • English Competency (12 min) – we’re a US-based company that requires fluent English.
  • Attention to Detail (12 min) – ability to thoroughly and carefully handle intricate processes
  • Numerical Reasoning (10 min) – aptitude with numbers and skill in interpreting them
  • Tech Savviness questions (4 min) – familiarity with efficiency & automation tools Loom interview – (2-5 min) – we use Loom internally for project updates and team questions across time zones Zoom Interview – 45 minutes References Offer
