We’re seeking an experienced Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our dynamic team and help drive new business with government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Sales Development Representative (SDR) with prior experience working with or for government entities. In this role, you will focus on identifying, qualifying, and generating new sales opportunities within government agencies. You will work closely with our sales and marketing teams to engage prospects, create awareness about our solutions, and drive the sales pipeline for our government business. This individual will have the opportunity to own the full sales cycle with unlimited potential for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Research and identify government decision-makers, influencers, and procurement officers across federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Qualification of Leads: Use a consultative approach to qualify inbound and outbound leads, ensuring alignment with our offerings and government procurement processes.
- Outreach: Initiate outbound calls, emails, and social media outreach to build relationships with government prospects and drive engagement.
- Market Intelligence: Stay up to date on government contracting regulations, procurement processes, and budget cycles to effectively navigate sales opportunities.
- CRM Management: Accurately track and manage all activities, interactions, and pipeline progress in our CRM system (e.g., Salesforce).
- Collaboration with Sales Team: Work closely with Account Executives and other members of the sales team to schedule meetings, set appointments, and support the closing process.
- Government-specific Strategies: Develop and execute sales strategies tailored to the unique needs and challenges of government agencies.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates on lead generation activity, pipeline status, and key insights to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an SDR or in a similar sales development role, preferably with exposure to government or public sector sales. Experience with government contracts, GSA schedules, or public procurement processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of Government Procurement: Familiarity with government procurement regulations (e.g., FAR, 8(a), GSA, State Contracts) and buying cycles is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with government stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), email marketing tools, and other sales development technologies.
- Research & Analytical Skills: Strong ability to research and identify new opportunities within government entities and analyze relevant information to qualify leads.
- Goal-Oriented: Proven ability to meet and exceed sales development targets, working in a high-performance, quota-driven environment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to address challenges in the sales process and provide creative solutions in a government contracting context.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new tools and adapt to changing regulations, policies, and procedures within the government space.
