Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview:

We're seeking an elite Staff Software Engineer to contribute to the development of our core
platform. As a key part of our early team, you will be a leader in our growing company and have
a direct impact on the future of our platform and product roadmap.

This role is fully on-site in our HQ in Flatiron.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Product, Pricing, Payments, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to define and ship impactful features.
• We are looking for a self-motivated leader who is interested in working in a highly dynamic environment. As a Staff Engineer, you would be expected to bring in expertise of managing large scale, and platforms, and support RepRally’s Engineering and scale it to efficiently adapt to ever evolving marketplace needs. The systems, APIs, experiences, and tools you develop will be used across sales reps and brands nationwide.
• As a Staff engineer, you’ll be responsible for establishing a technical vision and building alignment within engineering and cross-functional teams - all while delivering a solution that is flexible, always available, efficient, and scales with the needs of the business. Your own unique skill set, rich experiences and thought leadership will be key to success in this role.

Qualifications:

• 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment
• Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
• Strong understanding of how deep backend systems are expressed in the UX shown to customers
• End-to-end mentality that transcends team boundaries and helps find globally optimal solutions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering organization
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, system quality, and user experience
• Proficiency in one or more backend server languages (Typescript/Go/Ruby/Java/Kotlin).
• Experience with modern JavaScript/Typescript libraries and tooling (e.g. React Native, NextJS, NodeJS).
• Expertise in popular storage systems such as relational databases, NoSQL, and caching.
• Passionate about design and building UX products. You bring flexibility to collaboration with design and product partners by presenting tradeoffs and iterating to the ideal solution.
• The role is based in our office in NYC
• We prefer candidates with direct experience in startups
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
