About the job
About 🚀
At Formation, we are on a mission to build and train the diverse software engineering workforce we want to see in tech. Backed by A16Z and founded by ex-Facebook engineers, we are building a platform that combines adaptive learning technology with a mentorship network of industry experts to create personalized, online training programs for job seekers at scale.
Our first program is the Engineering Fellowship, a training program that helps software engineers from non-traditional and underrepresented backgrounds break into top tier tech companies.
We are not a bootcamp.
Engineers in our program have anywhere from 1 to 18 years of experience, but are looking for targeted training and support to make the next big step in their career. In combination with our adaptive learning technology, Fellows are mentored by senior engineers at companies such as Reddit and Netflix.
We are seeking a Fellow Manager who is eager for a challenging, impactful, and rewarding role that makes a lasting difference in the lives of the software engineering Fellows in our program as they fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams. Formation’s Fellow Managers provide personalized support to Fellows throughout their journey until they land their dream roles. This position offers a unique mix of advising, coaching, and counseling, with opportunities to apply your learnings with fellows that can impact our learner-base across the platform.
Formation’s Fellow Managers work closely with Fellows to ensure they are progressing toward their goals at every step. The ideal candidate for the Fellow Manager role is inquisitive, adaptable to change, and compassionate, with a drive for empowering others to reach their greatest aspirations.
Why join us?
🌈 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: In the past decade, our industry has made huge strides in increasing interview opportunities for people from all backgrounds. However, we are still faced with massive disparity when it comes to equal access to high quality mentorship to succeed in those interviews. Formation is here to systemically remove that barrier of entry and build a truly equal society.
❤️ Benefits that show we love you: We are remote-first, unlimited PTO, flexible working hours and health and dental coverage. We also have annual retreats to amazing destinations (Lake Tahoe, Cape Cod, New Orleans to name a few), a flexible learning and development budget, a WFH equipment stipend, and more.
🤑 Well funded by incredible investors: We are lucky to be well funded by an incredible group of investors including Kapor Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Ben Blumenrose (Designer Fund), Soleio Cuervo (Combine), Lachy Groom, Matt MacInnis (COO at Rippling), Tomer London (CPO at Gusto), Leif Abraham (CEO at Public.com) and more.
🚀 Crazy ambitious mission: We’re here to solve one of the most challenging missions in the world, one that we fundamentally believe needs to be solved.
💵 Transparent, competitive compensation: We run competitive benchmarking for every role that we hire, and we always target 90%+ of cash + equity compensation (based on our stage) for all roles.
