Long Meadow Ranch is a family-owned agricultural enterprise producing grapes and wine, olives and olive oil, grass-fed beef and lamb, fruits, vegetables, and eggs in the Napa Valley, Anderson Valley and Marin County. The Long Meadow Ranch operations also include an acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant, a wine bar & tasting in the historic Logan-Ives House, an outdoor cafe, a farmer's market, working garden and a variety of unique event spaces all located at Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch.
Long Meadow Ranch is looking for a Sommelier to join our dynamic Front of House team. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual who is personable and friendly, customer service oriented, and has a strong passion for wine and food. Reporting to the Beverage Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting with wine service in both the restaurant and wine bar.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the beverage program including developing wine pairings, and wine tastings
- Assist with regularly scheduled beverage training
- Assist with wine and beverage inventory
- Monitor proper storage conditions for wines
- Provide floor lead support for the Wine Bar and Restaurant Front of House
- Assist with winery experiences as needed
- Monitor every aspect of service to ensure a welcoming and approachable environment for our guests
- Host retail wine tastings that convey LMR brand image and lead to sales transactions and brand loyalty
- Provide the first line of information to the customer by greeting, directing and answering questions regarding our wines, merchandise, history and facilities
- Build, enhance and maintain long-term customer relationships
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Front of House, full-service dining room operations
- Previous experience working as a floor sommelier
- Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or similar certification programs are encouraged, but not require
- Extensive knowledge of different grape varieties, regions, and vintages
- Experience with POS systems like Toast POS
- Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell and increase revenue
- Passion for delivering exceptional customer service in a restaurant setting
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays, flexibility in schedule is desired
- A pre-employment investigative consumer report is required
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full time hourly position.
- The Company reasonably expects to pay in the range of $26 to $30 an hour for this position, plus tips and commissions. Of course, this is depending on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. This wage range may be modified in the future.
