Emergency Department Director

Primary Tasks:
• Lead and guide the Emergency Department team, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
• Oversee the hospital’s trauma program, ensuring it meets state requirements for trauma designation.
• Manage the department’s budget, allocate resources efficiently, and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures.
• Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by exploring opportunities to enhance the quality and efficiency of care.
• Work closely with other departments and key stakeholders to ensure coordinated patient care and smooth hospital operations.
• Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of Emergency Department staff.

Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in Iowa or an active compact state nursing license.
• 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting, with a minimum of 1-2 years in a leadership role.
• Current BLS certification required, with ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications to be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of emergency nursing practices, pre-hospital care, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, make informed decisions, and manage a high-volume, fast-paced workload.
