About the job

About Vantage:

Vantage is a cloud cost visibility and optimization platform, alternatively known as a FinOps platform. We help companies of all sizes manage their cloud infrastructure costs: everything from individual developers all the way up to multiple Fortune 500 customers. Our co-founders are industry veterans who have been former infrastructure engineers and product managers at DigitalOcean and AWS. The company is an efficient and hard working team of ~50 employees across the US with a New York City center of gravity. As we transition to the growth phase of the business, it’s likely our team size will at least double by the end of 2025.

Our current customers include Aflac, PBS, FanDuel, Rippling, Compass, Ripple, and Starburst.

Vantage has raised $25M in total venture capital, most recently a $21M Series A financing round in March of 2023. Our investors include outstanding, top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Scale Venture Partners, Matthew Prince (Co-Founder & CEO, Cloudflare), Calvin French Owen (Co-Founder, Segment), Ben and Moisey Uretsky (Co-Founders, DigitalOcean), Stephanie and Nat Friedman (CEO, Github), Julia Lipton, Brianne Kimmel and others.

About The Role:

The VP of Finance will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and operational framework of Vantage. This single-threaded finance leader will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, ensuring fiscal health, and managing our business operations team (of currently a single person) to drive strategic initiatives to support growth in an efficient and prudent manner.

This person will work primarily with our CEO but also with others on the executive team to drive initiatives around annual revenue and headcount planning, instill repeatable and scalable processes for timely cash collection from our hundreds of paying customers, impose budgets and hold other organizations in the company accountable to them, assist with financial aspects as it relates to future funding rounds and manage the process with outside accountants to close the books on a timely fashion each month to share financials with internal and external investor stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives, including revenue forecasting, budgeting, and capital allocation.

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and analysis to inform strategic decision-making. We currently use a retained accounting firm and use Quickbooks to help with these efforts.

  • Collaborate with the executive team to prepare for future funding rounds, including financial data rooms and financial models to support business plans.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Build, mentor, and lead the finance and business operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial performance and drive accountability across departments.

  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Product) to ensure alignment of financial goals, hiring plans and operational strategies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within a SaaS or tech-focused environment.

  • Proven track record of financial planning, analysis, and fundraising in a venture-backed setting, ideally with a B2B Enterprise SaaS company.

  • Strong understanding of SaaS metrics and financial modeling.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse audiences.

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to driving results.

  • A builder who prides themselves on execution and getting things done. We are a small, nimble startup and that culture applies to our finance function at this stage as well. We need someone who is excited to come in and build this portion of the organization from scratch.

  • A kind person

Pay & Benefits

The estimated annual US base salary range for this role is $210,000 - $250,000. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and education stipends.

At this time, Vantage is only set up to employ in the United States
