About the job

About Wierd(A)dvisory

At Wierd(A)dvisory, we believe that the nature of advice and expertise is changing and that being strategic calls for more creative problem-solving. That's why we prioritize creating an environment where exceptional individuals with diverse perspectives, thinking, and capabilities can thrive and do their best work.

We are currently in search of a senior consultant to join our team as a Manager (Strategy), where they will engage with and provide strategic guidance to our key clients.

We're a boutique consultancy that partners with senior executives at some of the world's most respected companies and promising start-ups, guiding them through unique challenges arising from complex internal and external dynamics. They choose to engage with us because of our demonstrated willingness to approach longstanding challenges in new ways and our commitment to exceptional quality in everything we do.

We are a rapidly growing start up and deliberately boutique. Craftsmanship is one of our core values and we believe in doing things very differently from what we see in big box consulting firms.

Exceptional Work Awaits our next Strategy Manager: About the Role

As a Strategy Manager, you will play a prominent role in leading critical workstreams and projects for marquee clients in life sciences, healthcare, CPG, retail, NFP, and technology.

You demonstrate a high level of proficiency, approaching expertise in idea generation, problem identification, fact-finding, and strategic planning, including guiding the initial design phases of emerging initiatives and ensuring the thorough execution of projects. Your strategic contributions extend to translating client requirements into the appropriate scope, building frameworks, creating project outputs (...not merely delegating), and collaborating closely with cross-functional client teams to maintain alignment throughout project progression.

An essential aspect of this role involves engaging directly with senior executives, demonstrating an immediate understanding in conversations, swiftly translating needs into actionable solutions, and building credibility around recommendations to ensure they are well-received by stakeholders.

You will actively collaborate with company leadership to contribute to the development of key solutions and recommendations, providing valuable insights to address challenges. Your demonstrated ability to seek assistance thoughtfully will be evident in your open approach to collaboration and reverse mentorship, where your strengths come to the forefront. Moreover, you'll take ownership of refining and finalizing deliverables, ensuring they meet the highest standards.

While you won't have formal revenue responsibilities, your strong commercial awareness will be a driving force, actively contributing to shaping the firm's strategies and growth plans.

Why This Might Be The Best Job In Canada For You

💰 Attractive pay and growth opportunities.

💆‍♀️ Our company ethos has employee experience at the centre, fostering a culture that values your well-being and creates the conditions for you to do amazing work.

🧑‍💻 We are strong proponents that the future of work is already here, but unevenly distributed - you should expect to enjoy the flexibility of mostly working from your ideal location, complemented by occasional team gatherings for collaboration and fun.

🤔 If you thrive on doing exceptional work and seek a start-up ‘feel’ versus the bureaucracy and politics of a large enterprise or top-tier firm, we are your ideal fit.

🤝 We consistently aim for purposeful discussion and debate, building muscles and manners that help us say goodbye to dull meetings and hello to more meaningful collaboration.

🔭 A small and impactful part of our business mix involves taking on projects connected to causes, engaging in important system-level conversations pro bono, and giving back.

We look forward to welcoming you to the team in late 2024 / early 2025.

How to Apply

Ready to be part of something exceptional? Let’s talk.

Skip the ‘traditional’ cover letter. Write something or build 1 infographic slide to tell us a bit about who you are, what makes you “good-weird”, what kind of problems you’re interested in, and the single best use case you’ve found for generative AI. Bonus points for usage of emojis!

Include your resume and LinkedIn profile URL.

While our current team is based in downtown Toronto, we embrace internet-enabled collaboration. We sometimes prioritize in-person meetings for significant client milestones and add some excitement with occasional gatherings as a team at a cozy loft downtown. But keep in mind that you won't be required to come to the office every day (...or often), and your suitability for the position isn't contingent on having a Toronto postal code.
