As a Data Scientist at Subject, you will play a critical role in enhancing our data-driven decision-making and scaling our data architecture. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with various teams (engineering, product, marketing) to identify data needs, build dashboards, and deliver insights that drive strategy.
• Manage and optimize data pipelines using tools like Fivetran, ensuring efficient data integration across platforms.
• Leverage DBT to transform raw data into structured, actionable insights.
• Automate operational processes and develop applications using Python and SQL to enhance productivity.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve data infrastructure and analytical capabilities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries and model specifications, for transparency and consistency.
• Partner with the engineering team to implement instrumentation for tracking performance and metrics across product areas.
• Establish and refine key performance indicators (KPIs), building dashboards to support real-time decision-making for leadership, internal teams, and our partners.
• Improve Subject’s data stack, ensuring seamless access to data across the organization.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellence in your personal or professional life - overcoming challenges, solving novel problems, achieving something special.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or data science, with at least 1 year in a fast-paced environment, ideally in a startup.
• Strong proficiency in data technologies: SQL, Python, dbt, BigQuery, BI Tools (Hex, Looker, Tableau), Fivetran, and more.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data-driven insights to cross-functional teams.
• Acute attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Highly collaborative, with experience working closely with Product Engineering and other teams to drive results.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
• Willingness to work 60+ hours a week as needed to meet company objectives.
