Data Engineer

We are on product market fit escape velocity ramp, scaling 2x every couple of weeks.

We are raising +- $10 Million Seed Round in the next 3-4 months.

This role will be full-time, remote is fine, fluency in English is a prerequisite.

We have a talented team of 11 consisting of CTO, Head of Growth at previously acquired startups & Series C, in addition to 7 full-time engineers from Microsoft, Amazon and top AI/ML research universities such as Cornell, Berkeley, Columbia.

Our core offerings stem from our Karu Overdrive Engine, consisting of our Prism Analysis Intelligence model, Retrieval Analysis model and Generative AI model. Our solutions range from personalized enterprise customer support chatbots to legal draft review assistants to RFP AI support workflow tools.

Key Responsibilities

As a backend software engineer at Karu, you're at the heart of the company. You'll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend sytems that power and make Karu possible. You'll work closely with the rest of our talented team to design and implement backend systems. If you're a forward-thinking engineer who can work in a fast-paced environment with fast development cycles and a strong commitment, we want to hear from you. With our smaller core engineering team, you will need to drive a lot of development and be responsbile for entire features. We want someone who's scrappy, willing to put in hours to build and maintain strong systems.

Skilled and willing to focus on AI/ML prompt engineering techniques.
Skilled and willing to focus on RAG, LLM strategies.

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems
Experience with server-side business logic, APIs, SQL databases, and DevOps tooling.
Passion for ownership and self sufficiency within and outside your domain
Drive fast engineering development with others to scale our product development with new features.

What you'll work on

You will mainly work on backend systems that drive the logic for many of our learning algorithms, API's, and user interactions. Building and maintaining parts of our dynamic AI tutoring experience and user personalization features that drive our innovation forward.

Tech stack will involve Typescript, Next.js, Redis, Prisma, SQL and some React.
