Thunder is a tech-enabled investment bank that supports founder-led companies in navigating capital options by securing debt, equity, or M&A. We offer rewarding performance-based compensation working alongside innovative early to mid-stage companies where you can see your impact. We offer the benefits of investment banking without the baggage and boring number crunching. If you love prospecting and building relationships with capital allocators, this is the position for you.
We are seeking an Investor Relations Manager with a background in business development, investor relations, and finance to help expand our investor network. This role will focus on relationship-building with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, venture capital firms, and private equity investors, with an emphasis on securing capital commitments for our clients.
The ideal candidate will have FINRA certifications (Series 63, 7, or 82 or at the very least the SIE) and a demonstrated ability to engage investors, build long-term relationships, and close deals. This position is essential to growing Thunder’s capital-raising efforts and maintaining a high-quality investor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute outreach strategies to target high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private equity, and venture capital firms.
- Build strong relationships through personalized communication and networking, both online and in person.
- Manage warm and cold outreach, ensuring follow-up and regular engagement with potential investors.
- Identify and qualify new investor prospects, leading outreach efforts to secure capital commitments.
- Present investment opportunities to investors in a clear and compelling manner, tailoring the messaging to meet investor needs and interests.
- Track the entire investor pipeline, from initial contact through deal closure, ensuring clear communication at all stages.
- Stay informed about the private equity and venture capital markets to align Thunder’s offerings with investor interests.
- Utilize business development skills to expand Thunder’s investor network and generate new fundraising opportunities.
- Prepare investor-facing reports and summaries, including teasers, deal updates, and financial performance metrics.
- Track outreach performance and investor engagement metrics to report progress on investor pipelines.
- Maintain accurate records of investor interactions and updates in the CRM system to optimize outreach and relationship management.
- Use CRM data to identify key investor trends and improve future outreach strategies.
- Organize and attend investor meetings, dinners, and events to strengthen relationships and facilitate capital commitments.
- Coordinate virtual and in-person investor roadshows to present deal opportunities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- FINRA certifications (SIE, Series 63, 7, or 82) required.
- 2+ years of experience in investor relations, sales, or business development, ideally within private equity, venture capital, or investment banking.
- Ability to manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, capital markets, and fundraising strategies, with the ability to analyze and present complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior-level investors and present opportunities clearly.
- Experience managing CRM systems and data-driven outreach processes (HubSpot, or similar).
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple investor relationships simultaneously.
Commitment & Compensatio:
- Full-time
- NYC Based/WFH
- Start date: ASAP
- Base Salary + Benefits + Uncapped Performance Based Commission + Discretionary Bonus Based On Company Performance
