Investment Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate who will help manage our portfolio and assist with financial analyses, communications, and portfolio reporting. As part of this role, the Associate will gain experience in early-stage quantitative investing and portfolio management through data/market research, portfolio valuation, investment diligence, and execution.

Description/Responsibilities

• Report directly to, and work closely with, the firm’s Chief Investment Officer
• Assist with research, including strategy development, sizing, and testing
• Assist with all aspects of investing, including capital deployment and negotiating terms
• Support our portfolio, including financial and return analyses
• Support fundraising efforts, including generating pitch materials, attending investor meetings, and preparing data room and diligence materials
• Help maintain our internal reporting, including our deal and fundraising pipelines, board materials, and compliance related reporting
• Help to maintain and support the firm’s community of investors and founders

Qualifications

The Associate should be self motivated and driven with an ability to work independently. While the company is strongly data driven, early-stage venture capital is a human-mediated business and so the Associate should have excellent communication skills. They should have a passion for entrepreneurship and embrace the startup community.

• Bachelor’s Degree from a leading institution. Major in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or Finance is preferred not required
• Extremely well-developed analytical abilities, direct experience with quantitative investing is preferred not required
• Highly self-motivated individual with outstanding communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail with ability to multi-task. Experience with financial reporting and statistical modeling preferred
• Comfortable with operating in a highly regulated environment
• Experience with the AngelList platform is highly preferred
• Series 65 license is preferred not required

Compensation

This is a full-time position with compensation matching market benchmark plus benefits. STM is a 100% remote company.
