Position Summary
Remote - for candidates based in India only..
Little Place Labs is seeking a junior FPGA Engineer to join our team, focusing on Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGA and Xilinx Versal ACAP. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior engineers in developing, testing, and implementing FPGA designs for high-performance systems. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow your FPGA design skills in a collaborative environment, working on cutting-edge hardware solutions for a variety of applications.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of FPGA designs using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Implement and simulate FPGA designs on Xilinx UltraScale+ and Versal boards.
- Collaborate in the verification of FPGA designs using simulation tools (e.g., ModelSim, Vivado).
- Perform simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis of FPGA designs.
- Debug and troubleshoot FPGA designs in both simulation and hardware environments.
- Develop and execute test plans and write test benches to validate FPGA designs.
- Collect FPGA metrics to inform and improve upon development processes and results
- Create reusable FPGA IP to be shared across the organisation
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of FPGA designs, test procedures, and verification results.
- Support the development of design specifications, user manuals, and design guides for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with senior engineers to learn and grow in FPGA development best practices.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions with the FPGA team.
- Program the FPGA to perform onboard image processing, onboard image compression, and onboard image encryption on the satellite.
Must Have
- Experience targeting Xilinx FPGAs. Familiar with their architecture, requirements, and board documentation.
- Programming skills in scripting languages - Python, C or C++.
- Familiarity with VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog for FPGA development.
- Basic knowledge of FPGA development tools like Xilinx Vivado and Xilinx Vitus for synthesis, implementation, and simulation.
- Familiarity with test benches, simulation, and debugging techniques in FPGA environments.
- Experience with Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in a remote working environment.
- Ability to work in a remote team environment, collaborating with hardware and software engineers.
Good to Have
- Experience with Xilinx UltraScale+ or Versal FPGAs.
- Experience using software engineering techniques to improve the hardware design process
- Experience creating reusable IP
- Experience in fixing timing issues for complex designs (clock domain crossings, metastability).
- Experience with source control, configuration management, document management and bug tracking tools (Git/Github/Jira/Confluence)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of experience in FPGA design and development.
- FPGA design experience including digital architecture, clock domain analysis and crossing techniques
