Job Summary: As a Physical Therapist, you will work with patients to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of physical impairments and functional limitations. Your primary goal is to help patients improve their mobility, reduce pain, and enhance their overall quality of life through individualized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical abilities and limitations.
Evaluate patients' medical histories, current health conditions, and previous treatments.
Use diagnostic tests and tools to determine the extent of impairments.
Treatment Planning:
Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
Set specific, measurable goals for patient progress and recovery.
Determine appropriate therapeutic interventions, including exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities.
Implementation of Therapy:
Administer physical therapy treatments and modalities as prescribed in the treatment plan.
Educate patients and their families on exercises, techniques, and lifestyle changes to support recovery.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Prepare reports on patient progress and communicate findings to other healthcare professionals as needed.
Patient Education:
Provide guidance and education on injury prevention, body mechanics, and self-care techniques.
Develop home exercise programs and ensure patients understand how to perform exercises correctly.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Professional Development:
Stay current with advancements in physical therapy techniques and practices.
Attend continuing education courses, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
Administrative Duties:
Manage scheduling and appointment coordination for patients.
Ensure compliance with health regulations and standards of care.
Handle billing and insurance documentation as required.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
State licensure to practice physical therapy.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy modalities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
